Prealerts Missing Critical Search Data ( Container)

Bug Resolved

This needs clarification.

When a prealert arrives, the Container number is not being saved. These are the primary references used to search for shipments, and this is how the team typically operates.

Relying on other references is not practical, as not everyone has access to them. Container numbers should be automatically captured and searchable when the prealert is received.

Can this be addressed or corrected?

Hi Jonathan,

That makes sense — container numbers are clearly a key reference for your team's workflow.

Just to clarify: is the container number typically found in the pre-alert email subject line or body, or is it included in one of the attached documents? Currently, we extract container numbers from the B/L, but we could extend this to also parse it directly from the email content if that's where it appears.

Once we know the source, we can look at the best way to capture it automatically when the pre-alert comes in.

Hi Edouard,

Thanks for checking on this.

The container number is usually available in several places:

Most commonly in the email subject line of the pre-alert

In the Bill of Lading, under the “Particulars Furnished by Shipper” section

In the COO (Section 8)

In the invoice

That said, in practice the most reliable and quickest reference for our team is the container number itself. I know this wasn’t mentioned before, but in about 99% of cases, traders don’t know the order number or the B/L number, they only have the container number.

So capturing it directly from the email subject (and body, if present) would be very helpful, in addition to extracting it from the documents.

Let me know if you need examples or anything else.

Hey Jonathan, this is implemented. The system was already picking up the container number from the documents, but wasn't displaying it. It's now also picking it up from e-mails and showing it in the page title.
